They only had espresso drinks available, and even my cappuccino turned out to be pretty average. One thing that bothered me personally was the absence of drip coffee, which seemed a bit odd for a brunch spot. The brunch options offered were rather basic, leaning more towards typical bar foods, and while the quality was decent, it didn't leave a lasting impression. We decided to check out this restaurant for a leisurely brunch, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to our expectations. Strawberry Cake - We got the strawberry cake to go, it was way too sweet for me but the others liked it. The way they bread the fish, grainy thin and crispy. I think our particular dish didn’t have many whole pieces of penne, they were all broken up- kind of like the end of a bowl where it’s all scraps and then put into macaroni… Which, if that was the point, then OK, but it seemed like a miss– still very good, but the size and the broken pieces of pasta left me hoping for more.Ĭatfish - We ordered the fried catfish, with a side of sweet potato yams, both great. Macaroni - The macaroni and cheese is a brown rice penne pasta, which on its own I would think is very good, but to pay $13 for that size I think is a little ridiculous. We ordered the check in with collard greens that comes with a barbecue sauce for dipping - wow. The ‘Soul spring rolls’ are the most innovative soul food dish I’ve had, surprised I haven’t seen it before. Small interior, mixed with some great innovative dishes. The exactly a great dinning atmosphere or dinning experience. The day we were there, they were playing some kind of strange Korean music and it was so hot inside the restaurant, it was uncomfortable. The eggs were dry and yolk completely hardened from sitting for hours before they were served. We believed that all the food was prepared way in advanced and just reheated so nothing was cooked to order or freshly made. Chicken was very dry and absolutely not worth it. My husband ordered the fried chicken based on her recommendation, unfortunately that was also wrong since we got the grilled or BBQ chicken instead and not the Fried chicken. I still wasn't sure what my orde included.hence what I received was disappointing since I thought I was getting the plate order. We had a questions regarding the brunch menu unfortunately, the girl taking the order doesn't actually pay attention or answer questions being posed by the customer despite repeating the question 3 different ways. We had high expectations for this place based on reviews and we love supporting small restaurant but unfortunately our experience was disappointing and less than desirable. Thanks Chef Alisa!Stop by My 2 Cents if you're ever in CA to experience unique southern style cuisine! The strawberry cake was my favorite! Yum! On top of all the great flavors is a spectacular chef with a genuine heart for the community who came out to greet us as we were visiting from VA. The desserts were all made from scratch and satisfied my sweet tooth. The tacos did not hold as much flavor as expected, but they were still good enough to enjoy. They were used for the blackened shrimp tacos. The savory shrimp & grits were my favorite! Yum! I realize corn tortillas, (not my favorite), seem to be the standard in this area. The simple yet tasty BBQ chicken salad came with a delicious house made dressing (not pictured) that added depth to the salad. My husband and I ordered the BBQ chicken salad, blackened jerk shrimp tacos, shrimp & grits, strawberry & sweet potato cakes, and peach cobbler. This Black Woman owned establishment came highly recommend by a close acquaintance and it did not disappoint. All in all, definitely should try if you’re in the area and have dietary restrictions like me. While we were there, we got coffee as well and they were both okay- not my favorite though. I had the biscuit the next day and it held up nicely with a reheat, and was very flavorful. I had the donut with coffee later and it was moist and yummy. We got the lemon blueberry cake-this was absolutely delish and moist! My pup was loving it too! We also got the blueberry donut and a veggie bomb biscuit to go. Their sausage on it had such great flavor and really made this breakfast sandwich delicious- it comes on a house made biscuit. I got the breakfast sandwich that was good, but I struggled a little bit with the mung bean on it- not used to it- but it is all made in house and was super tasty. They have food items, but the bakery is next level. She explained anything I had questions about. The service was superb- she was so patient with me since it was my first time there. They are dog friendly which made it an even better experience since we had our pup with us. They keep it very clean and super welcoming. So happy to see an all vegan and gluten free place to eat. We found this bakery on a whim in the morning when I was starving.
